Health essentials, chiropractic and living longer
Hey there, Dr. James here. So, with the medical practice out this weekend, I wanted to share a little something interesting and explain what we do here and what chiropractic and health are all about. I thought it was pretty neat.
So, what is chiropractic and healthcare really all about? It's really one simple word: longevity.
So what does that mean? It means, you know, living longer and being able to do the things that you want to do, living a longer, fuller life.
I tell the story of a patient who's from South Florida. For lots of years, he comes up here. He's 80 years old, and he came in just recently and said, "Doc, hurry up and fix me. I got a tee time next week."
And he wants to go golf, and he's playing tennis. I asked him, I said, "You know, a lot of people my age are playing pickleball now. What do you think about pickleball?"
I asked him about pickleball, and he said, "Ah, I don't play pickleball. That's for old people."
And he's 80 years old, still playing tennis and golf.
And so that's what life is really about.
So here's a good way to explain this. This little chart here—this is kind of our health over here, and this is time.
So I tell people this: there are a lot of ways this relates to chiropractic. We're born really healthy, hopefully. And as we get older, we're all getting a little less healthy until eventually we meet our end right here, right?
We want this date to be as far back as possible.
By taking care of ourselves, especially by going to the chiropractor, really what our main goal is—we want you to feel better and all that stuff—but here's the main goal with chiropractic care, right? We're going down there, so we're going to live a longer, healthier life.
And this span here—what's one extra year of your life worth? Five years? Ten years?
Most people have a relative or friend, or even a pet, they wish were around for just one more year.
But if we take care of ourselves and are able to get these extra years near the end, that's what it's all about.
And using those years wisely, being able to do stuff, play with your grandkids, play football, play golf, and do all those things makes life a little bit longer.
And this goes to our treatment here, too. A lot of people think they're going to come in and they're up here. A lot of times, with regular chiropractic care, we're doing this.
Now, if we didn't go to the chiropractor, we'd be doing that.
If we go to the chiropractor once a week instead of every couple of weeks, you might be doing that.
So really, a lot of what we're doing is prolonging life, giving longevity, and letting us live a happier, healthier, longer life, being able to do things in those last years that we might not otherwise be able to do.
So really, a lot of what we do here with chiropractic is longevity—helping you live longer, having a full life through the end, and being able to do all the things that you always want to do, like golfing and playing with your grandkids, etc.
So just a little bit about longevity.
