Hackettstown NJ's Village Family Clinic Treats Arthritis Sufferers

Darren Kincaid - Tuesday, January 02, 2018

This is a neck and spine-related blog post dedicated to you who suffer from arthritic pain in your spine and neck. This blog post is brought to you from you friends at Village Family Clinic here in Hackettstown NJ. We author works (like today's post on arthritis) because we take great pride and professional reward in helping those living in pain to move forward to pain free living and a better quality of life.  We gladly do this as one way to give back to the Hackettstown community who have done so much for us over the years.

Years ago, doctors hardly ever told rheumatoid arthritis patients to “go take a hike” or “go for a swim.” Arthritis was considered an inherent part of the aging process and a signal to a patient that it’s time to slow down. However, recent research and clinical findings show that there is much more to life for arthritis patients than the traditional recommendation of bed rest and drug therapy.

What Is Rheumatoid Arthritis? The word “arthritis” means “joint inflammation” and is often used in reference to rheumatic diseases. Rheumatic diseases include more than 100 conditions: gout, fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and many more. Rheumatic arthritis is also a rheumatic disease, affecting about 1 percent of the U.S. population (about 2.1 million people.) Although rheumatoid arthritis often begins in middle age and is more frequent in the older generation, young people and children can also suffer from it. Rheumatoid arthritis causes pain, swelling, stiffness, and loss of function in the joints.

Should Arthritis Patients Exercise? Exercise is critical in successful arthritis management. It helps maintain healthy and strong muscles, joint mobility, flexibility, endurance, and helps control weight. Rest, on the other hand, helps to decrease active joint inflammation, pain, and fatigue. Arthritis patients need a good balance between the two: more rest during the active phase of arthritis, and more exercise during remission. During acute systematic flares or local joint flares, patients should put joints gently through their full range of motion once a day, with periods of rest. To see how much rest is best during flares, patients should talk to their health care providers. If patients experience unusual or persistent fatigue, increased weakness, a decrease in range of motion, an increase in joint swelling, or pain that lasts more than one hour after exercising, they need to talk to their health care providers.

How Can Chiropractic Help? If you live in Hacketstown, NJ and suffer from rheumatoid arthritis, Village Family Clinic can help you plan an exercise program that will:

  • Help you restore the lost range of motion to your joints
  • Improve your flexibility and endurance
  • Increase your muscle tone and strength

We can also give you nutrition and supplementation advice that can be helpful in controlling and reducing joint inflammation. Call us today and take that first step to relieving your arthritic pain!

Hackettstown NJ's Top Chiro Team Offers Simple Advice on Posture

Darren Kincaid - Tuesday, December 26, 2017

Hello again dear friends from Dr. Fedich and his team here at Hackettstown NJ's Villiage Family Clinic.  Let's talk posture!

We often hear that good posture is essential for good health. Good posture affects your overall wellbeing specifically when it pertains to neck and spine health. We recognize poor posture when we see it in the form of unnatural body positions formed as a result of bad habits carried out over years. Chiropractors in general have a real grasp of the importance and necessity of good posture.

What is posture? Posture is the position in which we hold our bodies while standing, sitting, or lying down. Good posture is the correct alignment of body parts supported by the right amount of muscle tension against gravity. Without posture and the muscles that control it, we would simply fall to the ground.

Normally, we do not consciously maintain normal posture. Instead, certain muscles do it for us, and we don't even have to think about it. Several muscle groups, including the hamstrings and large back muscles, are critically important in maintaining good posture. While the ligaments help to hold the skeleton together, these postural muscles, when functioning properly, prevent the forces of gravity from pushing us over forward. Postural muscles also maintain our posture and balance during movement.

What are the consequences of poor posture? Poor posture can lead to excessive strain on our postural muscles. We typically see this in people who bend forward at the waist for a prolonged time in the workplace. Their postural muscles are more prone to injury and back pain. Persistent pain leads to the need for professional treatment such as spinal decompression or acupuncture.  While we provide these chiropractic treatment options, we'd simply prefer you correct your posture and both end your pain and the need lengthy treatment.

Can I correct my poor posture? In a word, yes. Remember, however, that long-standing postural problems will typically take longer to address than short-lived ones, as often the joints have adapted to your long-standing poor posture. Conscious awareness of your own posture and knowing what posture is correct will help you consciously correct yourself. With practice, the correct posture for standing, sitting, and lying down will gradually replace your old posture. In turn, this will help you move toward a better and healthier body position.

How can Dr. Fedich help? Those of you with long-standing postural problems will likely require the help of Dr. Fedich (or one of his staff Chiropractors) to assist both the body and the brain to correct themselves. Dr. Fedich can assist you with proper posture, including recommending exercises to strengthen your core postural muscles. With the use of certain chiropractic techniques, Dr. Fedich and his team can also assist you with choosing proper postures during your activities and thus help reduce your risk of injury.

Call us to learn about how The Villiage Family Clinic can help you correct bad posture, eradicate your back pain, and dramatically increase the overall quality of your life!

Give A Free Holiday Gift in 30-Seconds or Less

Joseph Coupal - Wednesday, December 20, 2017
Village Family Clinic - Give A Free Holiday Gift in 30-Seconds or Less

If a friend, relative, or valued service provider has a website, give them the gift of a business Facebook “like” this Holiday season. This act is free and will literally take you 30 seconds or less. By doing so, you help your friend or relative further establish business credibility and trust from an online standpoint.

Why do this? The reason is simple. Facebook “likes” is something that business owners can refer to promote their business popularity and interaction with their clients. It is also a widely accepted conclusion that Facebook “likes” play some role in how a website converts visitors into customers.

So if you know anyone with a website and wish them well in business, take 30-seconds and “like” their business Facebook page. Look for the Facebook logo usually located at the top or bottom of the website’s home page. Then shoot them a quick note saying, “Happy Holidays. I recently “liked” your business Facebook page and wish you continued business success in 2018 and beyond”. It would be a kind gesture and one that cost you nothing other than 30 seconds of your time.

To all our regular readers of this blog, we wish you all Happy Holidays and only the best for 2018 and beyond.

Full-Body Massage Combats Tension - Allamuchy, NJ

Joseph Coupal - Tuesday, December 19, 2017
Massage - Village Family Clinic

Massage therapy in Allamuchy, NJ has several advantages for your wellness. These advantages go far beyond the hour spent relaxing quietly while being massaged.

Evidence indicates that tension is a root cause of many different illnesses. You can alleviate or relieve tension through a full body massage to stop issues from emerging or becoming worse. Getting full-body massage regularly is a safe and effective way to help you fight off tension and live a happy and healthy life.

During full-body massage therapy, the production of endorphins is stimulated , which promotes relaxation and drowsiness. This is one reason why you feel so relaxed while being massaged. Various strokes that include kneading, pulling, wringing, hacking, and gliding are utilized on muscles from head to toe, front and back, to fight off tension.

Recurring Chiro Treatment Keeps Patient Employed

Darren Kincaid - Tuesday, December 12, 2017

This video exemplifies a recurring Village Family Clinic celebration.  It is a typical good news story.

This man is a self-described "aging carpenter" that came to us four years ago with concern that his back pain was going to rob him of the very ability to remain gainfully employed.  He credits his regular recurring chiropractic care here at Village Family Clinic as a core enabler to continued professional employment.

Sadly, some neck and spine conditions (and the corresponding pain) can never be completely cured. Some spinal conditions and pains can only be managed. But the good news is that regular and recurring spinal decompression chiropractic treatment (and other forms of treatment) for even the most severe back and neck pain helps people remain physically active.  And in this case, gainfully employed.

If you suffer from persistent neck and/or back pain in and around Hackettstown NJ, give us a call!  That call could change change your life for the better.

Patient Chooses Chiropractic Care Over Orthopedic Care

Darren Kincaid - Tuesday, December 05, 2017

This is Ross' story.  We've been treating Ross here at Village Family Clinic for four months now.  He has a lower herniated disc and pinched nerve that leaves his right side numb.  Watch the video and hear Ross personally describe how his chiropractic treatment here in our Hackettstown chiropractic clinic has put him back on track.

Ross explains his journey to find us here at Village Family Clinic came by way of disappointing results from previous chiropractic and orthopedic clinical care.  Ross' story serves as a reminder to never give up on your quest to rid yourself of back and neck pain.  While it is proven that both orthopedic and chiropractic treatment are avenues for pain relief, it most definitely matters who you choose to deliver those services.  Roy found us here at Village Family Clinic and discovered positive results that other care providers could not deliver.

Dr. Fedich and his team of chiropractic professionals here at Village Family Clinic make difference in peoples lives. We invite you to learn about the various chiropractic services offer here in Hackettstown.  When ready, call us anytime to learn more!

Chiropractic Adjustments without Cracking

Joseph Coupal - Wednesday, November 29, 2017

Today we are going to show you an instrument to adjust different areas of the spine. It doesn't always have to be a big forcible adjustment. Some people don't like that style of manipulation.

So what we have here is the impulse adjusting tool. It delivers the force into the joint faster than you can do with your hands. So, we don't have to do the same forcible adjustment as we do with our hands. It helps accomplish the same movement in the spine.

We gently push the head of the instrument into the spine and pull the trigger. It delivers a rapid, precise force into the spine, making sure all segments of the vertebrae are moving properly.

If you were to ask the patient, they would tell you that it is very comfortable. For more information about chiropractic adjustments without cracking, contact Village Family Clinic.

Happy Thanksgiving From Village Family Clinic

Joseph Coupal - Wednesday, November 22, 2017
Massage - Village Family Clinic

It’s Thanksgiving week and a time each year when we reflect upon the blessing within our lives. Today our warmest Thanksgiving wishes go out to all of you, our clients, friends, and neighbors. Along with this note of thanks to you, this week we offer a special Thanksgiving “shout-out” to one of the more unsung Thanksgiving heroes, Sarah Hale. Historians credit Sara Hale as the originator of the Thanksgiving federal holiday.

Sara Hale undertook a 17-year letter writing campaign to make Thanksgiving a national holiday observed in all states. Before Hale, Thanksgiving was not a fixed holiday but rather an informal tradition. Presidents would select a day and make it known that it would be a day of thanksgiving and community. Hale lobbied five separate presidents for a set date until finally her request was granted by president Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln congratulated her tenacity and immortalized the holiday as part of American culture.

So thanks, Sara, for your 17 years of letter writing, for securing our day of Thanks on Thursday, and for your part in creating one of the most warm and celebrated day within our American culture!

Hi I'm Laurel, I'm a patient at the Village Family Clinic. I just want to thank Dr. Fedich and the whole staff for everything they have done for me. My back feels so much better. This machine that I have been using has really helped my back and I just want to thank everybody. Thank you!

Hi! My name Maria and I'm here at the Village Family Clinic. I came for compression for my neck and chiropractic for my back and I'm feeling better. The atmosphere in this clinic is so friendly. They know what they're doing and I would love for people come to this place. They're very friendly, especially my friend Jessica. Fully nice work, everybody fully nice. I wish everybody would come here. Very friendly people in this clinic.

Hi my name is Karen. Back in December, I came to Dr. Fedich because I'd been in a lot of pain with my neck. I had a herniated disk and they introduced me to this Triton machine, which has really been a God send, helping me pull my neck and taking the pain away. I also referred my father and my son because I trust this Doctor so much...he's helped me so much. Now, I'm going to Ashley for massages. I'm just addicted to this place..
